Case studies
[listen with some interaction]
Practical sessions designed to provide real life examples where participants will learn about the application of evidence in practice.

Session Program

People experiencing sexual violence are not a homogeneous group, but our systemic, policy and practice responses can often seem centred upon a white, cisgender, heterosexual woman who fits the “victim” model by responding to the violence in a particular way. Drawing upon two different pieces of ANROWS research, this panel will highlight ways to improve our response to diversity and complexity inside a single-issue service system. The panel will draw heavily upon the lived expertise of women with experiences of complex trauma and transgender women of colour, both through their inclusion in the initial research, and in practice settings where this evidence has been put into action. Policymakers should leave this session with a better idea of how to ensure sexual violence responses and services are inclusive and properly resourced to respond to the full breadth of people who need to use them.
