Professional Bio

Tess lives on an organic farm in north-west Tasmania. Tess is a passionate intersectional advocate in the area of family and sexual violence, elevating the voices of people with disability and LGBTQ+ people.  
Tess works as a project coordinator for the Advocates for Change at Engender Equality (Tasmania’s specialist family violence organisation), where they coordinate and support a group of lived experience victims and survivors of family and sexual violence to engage in media advocacy, education and public speaking. Tess is also a childhood and adult survivor of gender-based violence, and was one of the Advocates of Change before moving into the coordinator role. Tess identifies as non-binary and pansexual and also works as an LGBTQ+ community support worker. They live with disability, care for a child with disability, and was involved in the development of content for the Women With Disabilities Australia website, Our Site. They are also a current member of the Ministerial Disability Consultative Group.
