Plenary panel: Experts by Experience

Featured session

Discussion Description

In a discussion facilitated by Rosie Batty AO, the panel of experts will explore the inclusion of lived expertise in violence against women policy, practice design, research and evaluation. They will speak to the importance of supporting women with lived expertise to be included more authentically in systemic decision-making processes related to violence against women, and the ways this can be done. Panellists will discuss why diversity is key to engaging with women with lived expertise, and how responses will be more effective if they are informed by an intersectional approach. Reflecting on the conference theme, the panel will also consider how we view “evidence” and “expertise”, and how and why these ways of seeing should be disrupted when working to prevent and respond to violence against women.
